Fermentech Labs is involved in the production of industrial enzymes of commercial interest using agro-industrial wastes. Presently the company is involved in the production of five enzymes i.e., pectinase, cellulases, xylanase, phytase and amylase. These enzymes finds wide applications ranging across fruit juice and wine clarification, textile processing, biofuel production, pharmaceuticals,, animal feed supplement, pulp and paper processing.

We focus on a sustainability model wherein we provide solutions to a company where agro/fruit (homogenous) residues and disposal is a pain point. Through our innovative technology, we have the capability to transform agro-fruit waste into industrial enzymes and other value added products (lignin valorization). Ideally, we look for the partner company to also be a consumer of enzymes resulting in a win-win model Since our enzymes are produced in-situ, we shall offer consistent supply of best quality enzymes at the most competitive price to the company.

Awards:

• Awarded Biotechnology Ignition Grant (DBT, Govt. of India) for development of a thermos-tolerant and acid stable phytase in novel SSF bioreactor.

• Awarded EngSUI seed grant (EIL, Govt. of India) for treatment of solid waste and development of cellulases using soli—state fermentation technology.

• Awarded BIRAC seed grant (DBT, Govt. of India) for pilot studies on the SSF Bioreactor.

• Awarded First prize in Business Plan Competition during the Industry-Academia meet held in Biotechnology department, IIT Roorkee in March 2017.

• Awarded First prize in IITRHF Business Plan competition, held at TIDES Business Incubator, IIT Roorkee.

• Awarded First prize in the BRIC Idea exposition organised by IKP Knowledge Park in partnership with BIRAC and IIT Roorkee in Nov’19.

• Represented the Indian delegation consisting of 28 start-ups at the ‘Slush’, world’s largest investor-startup platform at Helsinki, Finland from 4-5th December, 2018.
